This is a ceremonial exchange associated with a ceremonial friendship (soa) usually made between a boy and girl when they are young. People representing one of the friends secretly collect gifts and try to surprise the other friend with these gifts. The receivers will try to reciprocate, and the exchange go on for several rounds.

On New Years Day, people try to sneak up on each other and rub the grime of cooking pots in each others’ faces.

This is a mautolotoio ceremony. Disguised people visit the house of people who have recently taken a foster child. They sing a song and expect to receive presents.

Re-enactment of Manea for the Prime Minister, Solomon Mamaloni. Before 1930, the Manea was performed as part of refurbishing the ritual house (hale aitu).

On holidays, people go through different neighborhoods on Sikaiana , singing and dancing, hakamolimoli.

On Christmas eve, people go from house to house singing songs. They are given small gifts at each house. In the morning, they divide in front of the church.

Some Sikaiana people believed that after an accident of fall, a person could lose their inner spirit (manu).Here people have gone to a place where a little girl fell, gathered up her manu and are now placing it back on her.
